All the published lathe work on the Myford dividing head that I have personally seen shows the device mounted on a vertical slide, mounted in turn on the cross-slide of the lathe. The setups shown in photo 1 and photo 2 allow it to be used to drive the headstock spindle of either the ML7 or Super 7 lathe. It may well be satisfactory for other Myford lathes such as the ML10. In fact it could probably be used for any lathe with a banjo for change-wheels. This immediately allows it to be used for a variety of projects involving cutters mounted directly or indirectly on the cross-slide.
