This is somewhat of a departure from my recent articles in that there isn't a stepper motor anywhere in sight, but it does relate directly to the main reason that I embarked on metalworking as a hobby in the first place, and later got interested in CNC, which was to make clocks. The traditional materials for making clock parts are steel, brass, and wood. However, there are good reasons for making some of the parts of a clock as light as possible.
