A SIMPLE PILLAR TOOL

The stand is shown in fig 1. It consists of a cast iron base (1) and a tubular pillar (2). It is intended that a portable electric drill with a 42mm collar be clamped in the clamp (10). The body of the clamp (4) can be clamped to the pillar. Part (4) is actually two die-castings that are spring loaded together. When the lever (9) is depressed the lower casting carrying the drill clamp (10) slides on the upper casting causing the drill to lower. The stand is supplied with a simple quick release drill vice (17). The cast iron base has some rudimentary tee slots that accept standard M8 hex nuts.
