COOLANT SYSTEM FOR HOBBY LATHES

For a long time I pondered these requirements and the stumbling block was always the pump. Conventional coolant systems tend to use large pumps and reservoirs that take up much space and they supply much more coolant than is really required on a mini-lathe. Then in a 'eureka' moment I realised that a windscreen washer pump had most of the attributes required (small, compact, enclosed, low voltage) and had an adequate delivery rate. The big question mark I had about windscreen washer pumps was reliability and compatibility with oils and lubricants. In one of my junk boxes I had two old windscreen washer pumps. Both had seen some service in their intended role.
