CNC technology does enable the engraving of scales and labels. The degree of sophistication of the image is the result of one's ability to write code (or control software) as well has having access to good CNC kit. CNC work of this quality has a steep learning curve and the gear is truly expensive. The electrolytic etching process however, is easily accessed and provides good results with readily available materials.
