CONVERTING A MYFORD SUPER SEVEN LATHE TO CNC

The lathe was manufactured in the 1980s and is equipped with a powered cross slide, QC gearbox and a stand with a Newton Tesla three phase inverter. It was only as I was starting to plan a CNC upgrade using Tony Jeffree's article in MEWissues 138-143, that the realisation hit me; there were significant differences between the ML7 and Super Seven Lathes! The cross slide bearing set from Arc Euro Trade mentioned in Tony's article doesn't fit the Super Seven, the cross slide screw being a larger diameter. The cross slide bracket is a different design and size dimensionally and there was no provision within the article to cover Myford Super Seven lathes equipped with a power cross slide.
