FRETTING ABOUT A FRETSAW

'Normal' fretsaw blades are about five inches long and come with plain or pin ends. In addition to being able to use both of these, I felt that there would be merit in also being able to fit 'Junior' hacksaw blades and possibly coping saw blades. In order to cut thin steel, a low cutting speed would be essential. Before searching for a ready made solution I did seriously consider following the example set by Harold Hall in MEW, Issue 11. The design presented there was elegantly straightforward, making extensive use of knife edge bearings.
