SMEE holds regular lectures on techniques for members at its home at Marshall House. The presentations at this year s exhibition will, as always, be by members with special skills. On Friday and Sunday we have talks on a subject close to the heart of many a model engineer - that of motorcycle restoration. (See the Lecture Programme opposite.) Within SMEE there is a very active group with a keen interest in the application of digital technology to model engineering. This includes DRO (Digital Read Out) devices, CAD (Computer Aided Design) techniques, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) systems, 3D printing and rapid prototyping. Members of the group will be displaying some of their work as part of the Society s presentation; they will be keen to answer questions and to involve interested visitors in this new aspect of the broad hobby of model engineering. The SMEE displays sit very well alongside the area of the Exhibition dedicated to the 'Makers'. Visitors will find those fascinating displays in the Brasserie Bar.
