I had owned my KX3 CNC milling machine for some months and the number of '3 Morse' tool-holders was starting to proliferate -I had been warned this would happen but it had not really registered. I gave the problem (and cost) some thought and quickly had a list of some 75 tool holders that would be required. Then it occurred to me how the tools that were used on the CNC machines at the Tech' were pre-set in their holders in a jig on a bench off the machine. Tools of similar length had been set for the same 'Work Offset'. Both the jig and the tool-holders - some sort of International Taper 40 or 50 type - are clearly very expensive, and such a jig would not accommodate 3 morse holders anyway and definitely did not cure the 'light pocket' problem either. I did a little 'Mousepokeren' on the internet and discovered that those tool holders start at about $200NZ each and go to $500+NZ, the setters start at $3500.1 considered making lots of 3 Morse blanks and quailed at the thought and there the problem lay for the time being.
