Building a Miniature Lubricating Oil Can

Over the years I have been building my small steam engines, I have often missed an appropriate tool for lubricating the small bearings in the engines, the normal size oil cans is often to big to go inside the narrow spaces. Facing this problem I decided to make an oil can that was the right size to do the job, (photo 1). The oil can is mainly made from brass, and I believe it is weekend job to do. First step in the project is to make the oil container body (fig 1). The part is made from O32 × 1 mm brass tube, first a 10 mm wide piece was sawed off with hack saw a little oversize (photo 2), next the sides were faced off to meet the measurements according to the drawing (photo 3). To do the job I used my small 3 jaw chuck web (visible behind the blank), to assure the turning is square to the outer surface.
