Taper Turning Attachment Adding New to Old

To test the assembly, it was fitted to the Myford ML7 lathe and the cross slide screw removed. This allowed an accurate number 2 Morse taper to be produced. A long taper in mild steel was also machined as a test piece, setting the angle by trial and error, getting close to the taper required with the micro dial. The tapers were tested by measuring the diameters with a micrometer at a given distance using tables from Machinery's Handbook. This was an excellent example of adding new to old involving the Model Engineers' Workshop community providing much information and help.
