Adur and Worthing Council - Chief Executive

Two pioneers of joint management learns are now seeking a Chief Executive to drive forward their ambitious agenda.Adur DC and Worthing BC in West Sussex have shared a joint top team since 2008 while maintaining separate political structures and respecting the different make-ups of their local authority areas with their 180,000 residents. While Adur DC is described as a collection of villages such as Shoreham and Lancing, Worthing BC with a population of 107,000 is dominated by the town of Worthing itself. All staff on both councils are legal ly employed by Adur and as well as operating a single management team both councils share a joint budget. Adur's leader Cllr Neil Parkin and Worthing's leader Cllr Daniel Humphreys are now seeking a successor to Chief Executive Alex Bailey who is retiring. They are open-minded about the type of candidate but as Cllr Humphreys, Worthing leader since 2015, says: 'We don't want someone seeking to spend the tail end of their career by the seaside. We're looking for a person who is ambitious and innovative.' Adur's Cllr Parkin, leader since 2000, adds: 'We see ourselves as innovative and commercially-driven. We like to punch above our weight.
