Dame Louise moves on from homes role

Dame Louise Casey has stepped back from helping the Government's emergency homelessness response, The MJ understands. Her move away from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's (MHCLG) COVID homelessness work comes after she was nominated to sit in the House of Lords as a crossbench peer. The COVTD-19 rough sleeping taskforce that Dame Louise had been chairing will continue to report into MHCLG ministers. Dame Louise had already been advising the Government on how to eradicate rough sleeping by 2024 and this review is expected to press ahead later in the year. Through the Government's Everyone In programme around 15,000 vulnerable people were housed in hotels and other forms of emergency accommodation.
