Police told: don't use kids as spies

Corporate director of the children and young people service at North Yorkshire CC, Stuart Carlton, was responding to a High Court ruling that the police recruitment and use of children as covert informants was lawful. Mr Justice Supperstone rejected calls for more safeguards when handling underage informants. He acknowledged youngsters were more vulnerable than adults but dismissed claims that their human rights were being breached.
