Our part in health and care devolution

Cities are the powerhouses of regional economies. They provide the labour, jobs, housing, innovation, skills, infrastructure and markets that drive and sustain growth. The importance of city leadership and governance can therefore no longer go unnoticed. Manchester is at a pivotal point in its history as it enters into a new era to create high quality places where people choose to live, work and do business. This vision is also key to the city's role within Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester has also been in the forefront of moves towards increased devolution to our cities. In Greater Manchester, there has already been great progress in gaining freedoms and powers over transport, strategic planning, housing, skills and many of the elements which will allow us to shape and invest in the conditions for growth.
