NAO chief among top speakers at 7th Forum

Head of the National Audit Office Sir Amyas Morse was one of the prominent speakers from Whitehall, the private sector and local government who recently addressed leading council chief executives at The MJ Future Forum.The Forum was the seventh to be held since its launch in 2012, taking place this year at Syon Park, Isleworth and attended by over 100 participants. Sponsors this year were EY and South Kesteven DC, Microsoft, Norse Group, Penna and Public Sector plc, all of whom delivered their own presentations. A powerful speech warning about Brexit was also delivered by Bob Neill MP, chairman of the Commons justice select committee and a former local government minister.Sir Amyas Morse said that during recent Whitehall spending rounds councils had lost out to powerful health lobbying when it came to spending targeted at long-term stability. Instead, he said, local government had been the recipient of short-term or emergency funding streams, a less efficient way of spending public money.
