￡3.3m Efficiency Savings To Fund New Financial Reporting System

The Audit Commission will use ￡3.3m of savings from its efficiency programme to help local authorities cover the cost of a new financial reporting system. Commission chairman, Michael O'Higgins, revealed on 5 February that the cash would be used to help councils, primary care trusts and other local bodies to switch to the International Financial Reporting Standard for annual accounts from December.
