The Effects of Communication Media and Culture on Deception Detection Accuracy

The article discusses the effects of communication media and cultural differences on deception detection accuracy. Topics include the use of snippets from recorded interviews with students from the U.S., Spain and India that were half honest and half dishonest, the tendency for judges to be worse at detecting deception when viewing videos of the interviews without sound regardless of the culture for either the judge or interviewee, and the judges' reliance on the same set of cues to detect deception.
