Surprisingly, this is Andy Leach's first-ever Mini, but he admits that he likes a challenge. Squeezing this 3.9-litre Rover V8 engine under the bonnet qualifies as a challenge. And then some. "I saw a Mini Van fitted with a Chevy V8 years before in a magazine and doing something like that had always been in the back of my mind," Andy recalls. Then, back in 1994, he actually got his hands on a Van to start the project. Well, not quite. He'd actually started several years earlier and, by the time he'd paid the £130 for the Van, he had already assembled the engine, chassis and front and rear ends, having obviously carried out a lot of careful measuring before he started construction.
