Kuala Lumpur Independence Run

On 18 August SMOC Malaysia (The Sports Mini Owners Club) held a run from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh. Fifty cars took part in the 130-mile run along the coastal road. It lasted around three hours and there was a police escort throughout the whole route. The event was co-organised by the local municipal councils (MBPJ and MBI) and was organised as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of their country's independence on 31 August 1957.
