I have an Austin Mini that I am restoring. Currently I am rebuilding the 1000cc engine and have stripped it down. The number one piston near the thermostat housing is stuck solid in the bore. Afriend told me that I should be able to free it off with a bit of petrol or engine oil. Can you tell me the best method? Ryan Camilleri, Malta lf the piston has corroded in position it is usually possible to free it by filling the bore with diesel fuel and leaving it for a while. Petrol or engine oil will not work. If it is seized in you will need to knock it out. Either way you will need to rebore the block and fit new pistons.
