MiniWorld dyno regulars Minifinity.com went for a change of venue for this year's dyno thrash, and Ken Tomlinson at RE Performance was kept busy working the Sun Road-a-Matic rollers pretty much all day. Ken has been involved with Minis for years and, although the focus of his business has changed to encompass a lot of high-powered Japanese machinery these days, he's still got a soft spot for anything A-series. He has a great depth of knowledge about how to tune them. And as well as offering advice to anyone whose car needed fettling, if something had a programmable ECU to play with, he lets owners have a quick tweak to see if they could coax out any more power. Although no forced-induction or motorcycle-engined Minis showed up, a couple of motors were topped off with BMW Krn16-valve bike head conversions.
