Tar-ox brake upgrade

Most Minis benefit from improvements to the braking system. This has been the case since the early days, when standard equipment was single-leading-shoe drums all round. Early Minis benefited from the fitting of twin leading-shoe front drum brakes and 997 Coopers (arguably) with their 7-inch discs. Today, most performance-tuned Minis are fitted with either later 8.4-inch front discs or 7.5-inch Cooper S discs. Both systems are good for standard or moderately-tuned Minis but all benefit from uprated front brakes, especially when stopping from high speeds or when repeated stopping is required. There are many brake upgrade components available, some better than others. Many use four-pot alloy callipers, giving improved cooling and a weight reduction at the same time.
