Today's banger, tomorrow's investment. Well, it's not quite like that, but you don't need me to tell you that the days of plucking a Mkl Mini out of your local paper for 50 quid are long gone. Now if you're into Minis for the fun of the thing - and isn't that really what it's all about? - then maybe you don't care two hoots about that. Maybe - perish the thought - you're even thinking that there's not much fun to be had from a creaky 1960's relic with a bodice-ripping 34bhp and a bent-wire gearchange.rnBut take a longer view, and if you buy sensibly now, whether a Mkl or a later car, then you could be pounds-in after a few years, or at the very least have not taken the sort of hiding in depreciation that you'd be suffering if you'd taken your mum's advice and bought a nice new Ford Fiesta. Now is the time to be buying, too, as later Minis teeter on that second-hand-to-classic borderline. It's easy to say all this, of course. But to do it right, to invest intelligently, what should you be buying?
