There can be few simpler cars, when it comes to electrical equipment, than an early Mini. The fact that such a basic installation was designed so poorly seems to indicate that the electrical engineers involved knew nothing at all about cars. The blame must go largely to Lucas for failure to understand the application. In installing these simple components and their cables, I have tried to take extreme care to make it all as weatherproof as possible.rnI got most of the lights and related components at autojumble (cheap) or on eBay (inflated prices). In Mkl rear light clusters, the centre electrodes for the bulbs are very small and need cleaning frequently because, cleverly, they oxidise. In each bulb socket there's a small (looks like Tufnel) plastic sliding base plate which holds a single indicator cable or twin brake/tail cables. Behind eachis a coil spring and, at the back of the light assembly, there are two rubberised covers for indicator (top) and brake/tail cables.
