When rebuilding a Mini engine it is standard practice to renew the oil pump. It's not an expensive item and is only easily accessed when the engine is stripped, and with Minis, the oil pump does suffer from wear after relatively low mileage. Interestingly, oil pumps in in-line A-series engines (Marina, etc) do not suffer from wear to anything like the same extent as those in transverse A-series engines, where oil pump wear is accelerated by swarf from the gearbox.
