Rally Mini preparation

It's easy to bolt on a few good looking bits to your Mini and head down the nearest country lane on a night rally full of optimism, but is there any logic to it? Taking the Mini along to SMMC at Southam for some prep taught us a thing or two about fitting rally equipment and checking a Mini over before competition use. SMMC's Colin Taylor advised us that we should look at a few car prep basics before spending money on anything resembling a tuning accessory.
