The weather in the UK can make or break an event, and Easter Monday (25 April) was one of those days we'll remember for years, with the temperature setting records for the time of year and Surrey being hotter than the rest of the country at just under 28 degrees. For once we were in the right place at the right time, with some of the Minis taking the opportunity to go topless where possible. Starting from SHMG's regular base at Worplesdon near Guildford, this annual run took in some great scenery to the South West of London, heading out through Woking and Chobham rather than South East as with some of their previous runs. A mid-morning stop on Chobham Common was a fantastic opportunity for photos, with the blue, cloudless sky contrasting perfectly with the yellow gorse bushes. An ideal place for a Mini pilgrimage as well, being just down the road from the Ministry of Defence Proving Ground where the Mini was first revealed to the press back in 1959, and later the Cooper launch in 1961.
