It is over 20 years since I visited Longbridge regularly for meetings with senior management, having been involved with engineers from the 'orstin' since my apprenticeship days in the 1950s. I was invited by MG Motor UK Ltd to visit Longbridge on 30 November 2011 for what was described as a Reunion Day, but within just one corner of the original site. Past colleagues appeared in relevant cars, including an original Austin Seven, for some very interesting reminiscing, particularly over a photograph of John Cooper and Ken Tyrrell with a BMC-engined Formula Junior car. This was all in what we knew as the 'Elephant House', originally the styling studio where David Bache and Roy Axe held court. The area that was the Austin Rover Marketing Department is now the MG Design Office, out of bounds to us visitors, but the original Exhibition Hall now houses a recreation of Lord Austin's office and a 'Museum' collection of seemingly unrelated cars, apart from a few select Minis.
