Finding the balance

Japan has very hot summers so I always make a point of changing the oil in my Minis prior to the hot weather and then again six months later in the autumn. The timing is always about right based on distance driven, etc. My 998, Alba, is currently the only Mini being used while my wife's Mini, Hana-chan, has her rebuild and my project 98-kun currently waits for more parts to arrive. I bought a 20-litre drum of Pennzoil 20w50 PZL mineral oil through the internet. It cost me ¥10,000 (around £65) which is very reasonable for four oil changes with good quality oil and a new filter every time. Disposal of old engine oil is very strictly regulated here but, fortunately, my friends at the local garage are happy for me to add it to their old oil.
