I'm a 19-year-old Miniholic and an avid reader of MiniWorld. On the day of my 17th Birthday I found a present of a 1987 Park Lane Mini outside my house with bows around its mirrors. I instantly fell in love. He was perfect and I named him Michelangelo. I passed my test a few months later and, after a little bit of work, he was road ready. Two and a bit years later he'd had an engine change and a full restoration. On 10 May 2013 I drove to Skegness to see friends. I was almost back home in Louth when I came across loose chippings on the road. I slowed down to avoid chipping the new paint. I saw an out of control car skid across the road. It was heading towards me! I braked hard and steered to the right to avoid it but it was too late. It ploughed into me, throwing the Mini five metres to the right and round, pushing my steering wheel back and crumpling the bonnet, wings and front end.
