Help for Heroes Mini Cruise

Mini owners across the country turned out in force to show their support for Britain's armed forces at the annual Help for Heroes Mini Cruise, held over the weekend of 26-28 July. The event was the culmination of the hard work of organiser Gerry Watkins. Minis headed for the Royal Agricultural University, in Cirencester, from the Friday night and camping facilities were provided nearby. Those not wishing to brave the thundery weather were able to spend the night in the university's guest accommodation, while evening entertainment was provided by The Blues Hounds to get the weekend off to a swinging start. Saturday afternoon saw the Minis fall into line ahead of the Cruise, which set off from Cirencester, destined for Royal Wootton Bassett. Paying respect to those who lost their lives in the line of duty, the Minis passed through the town and on past RAF Lyneham. Ending the cruise on a high note, the convoy journeyed on to Castle Combe Circuit, for a parade lap, where the heavens opened. Keeping out of the rain, and avoiding the leaky tents, Mini owners enjoyed a performance from rock cover band Shred back at the university.
