My name is Robin Girdwood and I stay in Fettercairn in Aberdeenshire. I purchase a 1985 Mini Ritz back in 2013. My intention was to do a basic resto but many of the original parts and interior were in not great shape. To ensure I could pass the long winter locked away in the garage every evening with the welder glowing and compressor rumbling, I launched into what I said would be a three year project. I then got carried away! I converted it from 12-inch to 10-inch wheels. Trimming off my new wings so they fitted was painful. By the time I finished nearly every panel, apart from the roof, was replaced. Now it was starting to get cold but, with my five thermal layers, I kept the grinder grinding and weld spatter burns were warming. Finally, by the end of January 2014,I had the shell ready for a respray.
