Apart from the revolutionary mechanical layout, one of the things that endeared the Mini to many from the early days was the huge amount of internal storage and the front door pockets in particular. No other car had anything like the amount of storage and most had no door storage at all. When the Mk3 was introduced, with internal door hinges and a cleaner look to the exterior, the door pockets disappeared. A deletion that was mourned by many and almost certainly cost a few sales.
