Let's get it started

The Mayfair had been lazing around for far too long now (19 years in total) and needed sparking into life. Sadly, simply turning the key was never going to make that happen. Two decades is a long time, long enough for mechanical parts to seize, metallic components to corrode and rubber and plastic to perish. So it was time to write a shopping list. The first thing needed was power. The original battery was flat as a pancake, so a good replacement was scribbled at the top of my list. Also, on an electrical/ignition note, I popped down HT leads, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm, points and condenser. The chances are that some of these components would have been absolutely fine with a quick clean up but I thought replacing them all in one hit was a better use of my time.
