Once a Mini, always a Mini

Driving a Mini has always given much pleasure and provided so much fun. In 1962 I bought my first Mini, a second hand Morris 850. It was a 1960 model with white-painted grille and the starter on the floor. An Austin 850 with Hydrolastic suspension followed in 1965.1 even bought a Downton-tuned Cooper S in 1968! On the Continent, until 1969, 848cc Morris and Austin Minis were badged as Morris or Austin 850, versus Morris Mini-Minor or Austin Seven in the UK. Between 1982 and 1992 Minis were not available in Switzerland because of Swiss noise and emission regulations. When the Rover Group launched the Mini Cooper SPi it did not take me long to buy one. A year later a British Open Classic was bought for my wife!
