Free at last

For a while now I have been forced to put working on my Minis on hold while I have carried out a number of essential repairs on and around my house. I haven't finished yet but work on my Minis has now become urgent too, both from a point of my own sanity and preventing deterioration of the Minis through neglect. My 1964 850 is particularly suffering in this respect but first of all I decided to start work on the yellow Mini as quicker results were possible. Work stopped on the yellow 1293 Mini (EBW) when I was trying to finish off the cooling system; the problem was only a very silly one in that the cooling fan was fouling on the A-Plus breather-type timing chain cover. I tried fitting two standard fan spacers but it didn't provide enough clearance. The answer was a later type wider alloy spacer from Mini Spares but the ¼-inch UNF fan-retaining bolts were not long enough.
