The very first issue of MiniWorld was published in the Summer of 1991 and it has been the world's favourite and best-selling magazine for the Mini ever since. The popularity of the Mini among readers of Cars and Car Conversions (CCC) magazine, and an abundance of past and potential future content, gave the editorial team the idea of putting together a one-off mag about Minis. The spin-off was entitled MiniWorld. CCC's editor, Nigel Fryatt, was also charged with putting together the Mini publication. "The last thing we did with the issue before sending it off to the printers was to insert 'No 1' before the date, Summer 1991. It was a very late decision, simply because we weren't sure that there would ever be a 'No 2'!" In his editor's message in that first issue Nigel wrote: "This issue of MiniWorld need not be unique. We could always do another. What do you think?" He asked readers to get in touch. Back in those days people had to put pen to paper and affix a stamp to send off their thoughts and the response was a resounding "Yes, please." Launch secretary Sue Loy recalls: "I just remember such enthusiasm for the mag from all corners of the globe."
