I have been in the Mini scene since the early 1970s when I bought my first car, a 1967 Austin Mini 850, replacing it with a new Mini 850 in 1974 and followed on later with a Mini 1000. There ended the Mini days for a period, as a larger mode of transport was the order of the day. By the late 1980s the classic car scene was starting to make its mark locally and I joined the local classic car club and yes, it was back to the Mini once more. This time it did not come from a dealer showroom, or a pristine used car lot, but from the bottom of a back garden in a neighbouring town! I transported this much-neglected Mini to a friend's place. He was an ex-Longbridge employee who, over time, waved his 'magic wand' over it and turned it into my pride and joy.
