Brands Hatch opened its famous Indy circuit for the 2017 Brands Hatch Mini Festival over the weekend of 8-9 July. This popular event brought together several Mini racing series with Mighty Minis, Super Mighty Minis, Miglias, Se7ens and pre-1966 Minis battling it out in their respective racing series, along with New Mini racing. The Mini Festival theme is now held across three MSV circuits throughout the year: Snetterton in May and Oulton Park in August. During the weekend an all-comers race was held to decide the winner of 'Fastest Mini in the World' but this year there were really only two cars battling for supremacy: Bill Richards, in his Ford-powered silhouette Clubman Estate, took on Chris Slade in his Quattro silhouette Mini, which reportedly has 870bhp! Racing cars may have been thin on the ground but the two main protagonists went at it hammer and tongs until Bill suffered mechanical issues in the closing stages.
