Many times, over the 26-odd years I have been into Minis, I have seriously considered owning a Mini Moke. I thoroughly enjoyed driving one around Magnetic Island, off the coast of Australia, where I hired one for a few days on holiday. Even in the rain it was so much fun. One day, around 15 years ago, I was on my own at MiniWorld HQ when I got a phone call from a chap who had one he no longer wanted and would be happy to give it to someone for free. I didn't want to abuse my position so advised him to contact one of the Mini clubs. I'm sure you can imagine the look of disbelief on the face of my equally Mini-mad other half's face when I went home and told him about my day. Regrets, I've had a few - and that was certainly one of them, especially as Mokes are now becoming increasingly rare and desirable. In the early 1990s Scott Turner was certainly not your typical Essex lad bombing about in a Ford. The seeds were already sown for his lifelong love of Minis and he had a Moke as a run-around. It must have meant a lot to him as he doesn't usually hold onto cars for very long. "I've had this Moke since 1992. It was found in a barn in a local farm when I was younger." The 1968 Spruce Green Morris Mini Moke had been built at Longbridge, where all 'English' Austin and Morris Mokes were made, on 25 September 1968. The very next day it went to Grosvenor Motor Company in Chester.
