I bought my Mini on 15 July 2018 after rejecting a number of Minis on an online auction site. I was originally drawn to Mini because of its iconic shape and very simple mechanical design. It was also the only classic car I could suitably fit and work on inside my garage. What I liked about this little red Mini 1000 was the lack of corrosion on the bodywork; it had been dry-stored for a number of years. The mechanical and electrical features, on the other hand, were shot and needed a complete overhaul in areas which I could easily get back up to scratch. As it was an October 1979-built car I also wanted to take future advantage of the 40-year rolling tax exception which would offer cheap classic car motoring.
