Mini City E

The E stood for economy with the Mini City E which was launched in 1982 and produced until 1988, with 60.5mpg achieved at 56mph. This was thanks to tuning the 998 engine for best bottom end torque to take advantage of a fairly tall 2.95:1 final drive ratio. It was less lively through the gears than the 3.44:1 final drive ratio previously fitted to Mini saloons.
