I have just purchased an M-registration Mini 1000, the first classic car I have owned. I plan to run it primarily as a classic but also use it sometimes as an occasional back-up car when the wife needs to use the family Ford Focus. The Mini is completely up together and has a current MOT but I am currently having difficulty in starting the engine. When it does start it won't rev and sometimes will not keep running. When I can persuade it to run for a while it dies when I try to rev it and I have to let it idle for quite a while before I can actually drive it. From then on it drives and behaves normally and starts immediately when the engine is warm. I would take it to the local garage but I am told that they do not have experience or patience with older cars. Could you offer any advice?
