I have a 1983 998 Mini that I have owned for over 20 years and have even managed to keep it on the road for most of that time. The engine is now approaching 95,000 miles and the last few times I have driven it any distance I have noticed the oil light is lighting up slightly when the engine is idling. Could you tell me if this is serious or if it is to be expected of a Mini engine of this mileage? Do I need a new oil pump or is it likely to mean a full engine rebuild?
