Kennecott's charitable foundation donates record amount to charity

The foundation raises money for local charities through tax deductible entrance fees to the Bingham Canyon Mine Visitors Center and donations to the foundation from the Copperton Lions Club from items purchased at the mine's visitors center gift shop. Since the inception of the charity fund in 1992, the foundation has donated more than $2.4 million to local community charities and nonprofit organizations and has hosted 2.8 million visitors at the center.
