New Microcrystal Tests for Controlled Drugs, Diverted Pharmaceuticals, and Bath Salts (Synthetic Cathinones): Mephedrone and Methylone

The Microscope is publishing selected monographs from McCrone Research Institute's recently completed research, New Microcrystal Tests for Controlled Drugs, Diverted Pharmaceuticals, and Bath Salts (Synthetic Cathinones), which contains newly developed micro-crystal tests and reagents with 9 additional drugs: alprazolam, butylone, mephedrone, methylone, MDPV, 4-MEC, alpha-PVP, tramadol, and zolpidem. This issue includes the monographs for the following drugs/reagents: 1.mephedrone/palladium chloride with hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid 2.mephedrone/picrolonic acid 3.methylone/palladium chloride with hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid 4.methylone/picric acid The previous issue 68∶1 (2020) included an updated introduction from McCrone Research Institute's first drug compendium research, A Modern Compendium of Microcrystal Tests for Illicit Drugs and Diverted Pharmaceuticals and the monographs for alprazolam/ gold bromide with hydrochloric acid, alprazolam/gold bromide with sulfuric acid and acetic acid, butylone/ palladium chloride with hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid, and butylone/platinum bromide with sulfuric acid. Additional monographs will be published in future issues of The Microscope.
