摘要

In our last issue, I discussed why ongoing microscopy training is essential for working microscopists to remain relevant in their field of research. That got me thinking about the other important aspect of the vocational path: an education and employment roadmap for those considering a microscopy career. Here is a condensed version of the article: Microscopists study a variety of objects and materials that are too small to be seen by the human eye. They use microscopes to determine the makeup and characteristics of materials, usually in a laboratory setting. Microscopists may be employed as biochemists or biophysi-cists; common employers include research and development departments of engineering, life and physical sciences organizations and companies, as well as colleges and universities and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
