The Microscope is publishing monographs from McCrone Research Institute's A Modern Compendium of Microcrystal Tests for Illicit Drugs and Diverted Pharmaceuticals, which contains 19 different drugs and their microcrystal test reagents. This issue includes monographs for the following drugs/reagents: 1. heroin/mercuric chloride 2. heroin/mercuric iodide 3. hydrocodone/platinum bromide 4. hydromorphone/platinum bromide 5. hydromorphone/sodium nitroprusside 6. MDMA/gold chloride 7. methadone/mercuric chloride 8. methadone/mercuric bromide 9. methylphenidate/picric acid 10. methylphenidate/lead iodide solution The previous issue, 65:2 (2017), includes monographs for 1-benzylpiperazine (BZP), clonazepam, codeine, diazepam, and l-ephedrine. Monographs for remaining microcrystal tests will be published in subsequent issues.
