Mobile-Processor Events of 2014

Qualcomm's first octa-core processor was the Snapdragon 615 (see MCR 3/17/14); the company later announced its first 64-bit processors (see MCR 4/14/14). Qualcomm also addressed the low end of its lineup with the Snapdragon 210 (see MCR 11/3/14). MediaTek unveiled its first LTE smartphone processor to open the year (see MPR 1/13/14) and subsequently extended its product line to high-end smartphones with the MT6595 (see MCR 3/10/14) and later the MT6795 (see MCR 8/4/14). The company also announced its first processor with CDMA support (see MCR 11/10/14) and its first chip for wearables (see MPR 6/23/14).
